Long 76 years may be merge in comparison to " Kalchakra " but the seed shown by a few youn has become a part and parcel of " Durgotsab, not only in West Bengal but also in the community puja history of India. In the field of rituals , Grandeur and Social bandings, " College Square Sarbojonin Durgotsab Committee " has created perpetual love and affection in the minds of all Bengalese. The first community Durga Puja was held about a hurndred years ago at Guptipara in Hooghly. It is said that during The reign of the masty Goddess Durga was irst worshipped in Bengal. In 1946 at the time of Hindu- Muslim riot, the aged persons of different Localities organized committees to celebrate Durgapuja so that the young generation could not be involved in the riot. At College Square, Durgapuja Started in the of 1948. The founder were Sri Ajit De ( Brother - in law of Sarat Ch. Basu who was brother of Netagi Subhas Ch. Bose) Promod Ghosal ( Renowned Freedom fighter) , Dr. Abhoy chattopadhyay, Bhupendra kr. Chowdhury, Balaknath Dhar, Amiya Mukherjee, Paresh Bhowal, Satindra nath mazumder During the year 1958 and onwards many personalities were During the year 1958 and onwards many personalities were attracted by the Grandeur of Durga Puja college square and came forward for it's progress. Some of them are Sri Badal Bhattacharjee,Dilip Sen, laltu Chowdhury, Mukul Das, Paltu Bhattacharya , Jaganath Dey, Ajit Dey ( President), Amanath Sain, Akshoy kr Sain, kalipada Seal, Jaikishan Agarwal , P.l. Tikmani and many more Till 2000 these people kept the flag flying high and took the puja to epitome popularity idol of goddess durga by renowned idol maker " Ramesh Pal" and illumination by " Sridhar Electric" were the man objects of attraction for growing popularity Bengal after the year 2000. the tradition experiment of illumination and pandal became another successful era under the dynamic leadership of Prabhat Sen, Bikash Mazumder, Sankar Dasgupta, Bhabni Prasad Patra, Shakti Mullick, Bhromor Chatterjee, Arun Hazra, Saila Ghosal, Prabir Dutta, Barun Lama, Arup Mondal, Asim Bhattacharya , Masdhusudan Mondal, Nilkanta Debnath, Partha Ghosh, Bimal Jana, Sattajit Dutta, Srikanta Das, Ranojoy Das, Raju Mollick, Munna Sing, Amarnath Goswami and so many.
